QUINN YURASEK is on their twentieth time around the sun and currently still waiting to be found in a game of hide & seek. They are a filmmaker, photographer, & poet best known for exploring the emotional complexities of gender roles, coming-of-age, queerness, and familial relationships.
born & rasied in the small middle-of-nowhere town of CHESTER CONNECTICUT, quinn attended valley regional regional high school (2020-24) as well as aces EDUCATIONAL CENTER FOR THE ARTS (eca, 2020-22) as a member of their creative writing department. while studying at eca, quinn developed skills in screenwriting, poetry, and flash fiction. their writing has been published in-print as well as online, receiving regional & national recognition. in 2022, quinn was a national silver medalist for poetry at the SCHOLASTIC ART & WRITING AWARDS as well as a semi-finalist for the NATIONAL STUDENT POETRY PROGRAM.
both in 2021 & 2022 quinn studied at SOCAPA in burlington as part of their core & advanced filmmaking programs, discovering a love for the craft of film and its community-based nature of storytelling. in 2023, they also attended the SCHOOL OF THE ART INSTITUTE OF CHICAGO in the early college program's advanced projects course, exploring both filmmaking & poetry as a combined medium.
in 2023, quinn began concentrating on photography as another way to gain visual storytelling skills. they produced a collection of magical and imaginative portraits of their high school friends, titled "TEENAGE DREAM". since then, quinn has continued to do freelance photography, with an intense focus on creative portraits.
for their senior year capstone project in high school, quinn created an unofficial music video for the song "JADED" by near tears. the video combined whimsical characters, colorful visuals, and the frustration of birthday & ever daunting adulthood. JADED was selected for the 2024 national film festival for talented youth (NFFTY) as well as nominated for best music video at the 2024 all american high school film festival.
quinn was also accepted to new york university tisch school of the arts in the kanbar institute of film and television production. after completing freshman year, they have since decided to pursue creative endeavors elsewhere.
while at nyu, quinn wrote & directed the short film YOURS AND MINE. the film follows a young girl in college becoming pregnant and trying to tell her mom. 'yours and mine' received numerous recognitions including being selected for NFFTY 2025, the seattle international film festival's futurewave, walla walla movie crush, new paltz summer shorts, and most recently shown october 2025 at nyu's 7SPOT showcase of female & nonbinary filmmakers.
recently, quinn has been spending their time creating music videos, most notably VENUS WAS IN RETROGRADE by hattie, which has been recently announced as an official NFFTY 2026 selection.
currently, quinn works full time as an assistant teacher with toddlers and is in the process of building experience to become an elementary art educator.
you can find quinn either at home cooking dinner or behind a camera trying to get a good shot.
